Our Adoption Standards
Our adoption standards ensure hamsters find loving, safe homes with humans who have the knowledge and resources to give them the very best life.
We expect adopters to follow ethical care guidelines and provide a safe, suitable environment with all the enrichment a hamster needs to thrive.
We use the latest scientific evidence on hamster welfare standards, as recognised by our friends at the PDSA and Blue Cross, and all ethical rescues that care for hamsters.
Our Adopter’s Guide provides an outline of our adoption standards. We are always happy to answer any questions you have.

Enclosure
This must be 100x50cm+ for Dwarf and Roborovski hamsters. For Syrian and Chinese hamsters it must be 100x50x50cm+.
Wheel
These must be upright and have a solid running surface. They must also be the correct size for the species of hamster that you have.
Food/water
Food must be a species specific seed mix like Hammykins® Hamster Food (formally Chubby Cheeks) which should be scattered around the their enclosure and must be supplemented with safe fresh fruit and veg such as carrot and cucumber. Water can be given in a bowl or bottle.
Enrichment
This can be provided in lots of ways. Enclosures must be full of enrichment to create a busy set up with items like hides, tunnels, forage and sprays. Their lives can also be enriched by you providing them with time out of their enclosure.
