Happy Mothers Day!
We would like to wish a huge happy Mothers day to all mums, and all those that celebrate today in whatever capacity! We thought we'd also like to honour some of the amazing hamsters that we've had in our rescue that have been mothers themselves! Our first mum is Merida, who earned her name with this iconic photo which was taken when she was rescued and she was defending her day old babies. Merida was cohoused with two other dwarves before coming to us. Due to being mis-sexed

The European Hamster
You’ve probably watched your hamster companion enjoying natural enrichment, and imagined them in the wild. Credit: Wildlife Travel What if we hadn’t captured and calmed our fuzzy friends over 100 years ago? What kind of lives would their wild ancestors have now? How would their species have coped with human overdevelopment, conflict, intensive farming? The UK has never had any wild hamsters. The species we keep as companions don’t survive the UK climate and ecosystem; escapee

A Rescue of Robos
Sometimes, you are asked if you can take in a hamster and that's exactly what happens. You get all the details from the surrender form, you find a spot for them in rescue, you pick them up, and then they can start looking for their forever home. Sometimes, it's not that simple. Recently, we were contacted to see if we could take in 7 little robos. This was already a large group of little floofs, but we came together as a team, and found space for them. We arranged a date to p
